Law Society: MP Akamba’s Violent Abduction a ‘Rapid Return to Uganda’s Dark Past’
The Uganda Law Society (ULS) has strongly condemned the unlawful re-arrest of Busiki county legislator, Paul Akamba at the Anti-Corruption Court on Friday.
Akamba who together with two other lawmakers, Yusuf Mutembuli of Bunyole East, and Cissy Namujju of Lwengo District are battling corruption charges, was granted bail by the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala on Friday.
However, upon his release on bail granted by the Court, Akamba was violently abducted by masked and plain clothed gunmen, bundled him in a waiting motor vehicle Toyota Noah registration number UBP 791G, and drove him away to an undisclosed location.
Currently, his whereabouts are still unknown.
