Mr. Turyamusiima Geofrey

ULS Council Member - Central

Turyamusima Geofrey is a distinguished, award-winning Advocate with eight years of championing justice and equality in legal arenas. Recognized for his tenacious advocacy, Turyamusiima has dedicated his career to defending the rights of marginalized, advancing civil liberties, and influencing transformative legal reforms. He has successfully litigated landmark cases, earning a reputation as one of the most respected voices in the field. Turyamusima is campaigning for ULS Central representative bringing with him a commitment to strengthening the legal profession and fostering inclusive leadership.

Turyamusiima holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from Makerere University, complemented by a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Center. He is currently pursuing a Master of Laws. Turyamusiima has continuously enriched his legal acumen through various courses including; Arbitration at the International Center for Arbitration and Mediation, Mediation at the Mediation Training Institute (MTI) International East Africa, Nairobi – Kenya, Constitution-Building in Africa, Summer University at Central European University (CEU), Budapest Hungary among others.

Current Position: Managing Partner KRATOS & Co. Advocates

For many years, Turyamusima served as the Head of Criminal Litigation and Human Rights at Wameli & Co. Advocates to his current role as the Managing Partner at Kratos Advocates.

Key Professional Honors,  Achievements, and Awards:

  • Best Criminal Law Practitioner of the Year by the Uganda Law Society, 2023
  • Best Human Rights Defender of the Year by the Uganda Law Society, 2021.
  • Best rising star of the year by the Uganda Law Society 2021.

Landmark Cases: Turyamusiima has led and won several high-profile cases, including;

  • Turyamusiima Geofrey vs Dr Ruth Ochieng & AG (Successfully filed the civil application that recognized lawyers as essential workers during the 2020 lockdown thereby setting significant legal precedent in contributing to the academic and practical discourse on justice and equality.

Vision for Central Representative, Uganda Law Society

Turyamusiima envisions a progressive and inclusive legal profession. His platform focuses on:

  1. Advancing Legal Reforms: Advocating for reforms that protect civil rights, ensure access to justice for vulnerable populations, and strengthen the rule of law.
  2. Supporting Young Lawyers: Creating opportunities for mentorship, capacity building, and professional development for young and emerging lawyers.
  3. Expanding Access to Justice: Ensuring that the legal profession plays a pivotal role in providing accessible, affordable, and fair legal representation to all, regardless of background or income level.

Campaign Message:

Turyamusiima believes that “Justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.” His campaign for representation of the Central region is a call to action for Advocates to come together, uphold the highest standards of justice, rule of law, and advocate for the rights and dignity of every person.
